Wedding Small Talk

"Where are you living?"

"Stamford"

"Nice, great weather!"

"Yeah, ok sure I suppose."

"What are you studying?"

"No studying, just working. We are the city of that. Did you think I said Stanford?"

"Yes."

"Ok."

    Hahaha!!! Awesome.

    "S-T-A-M as in Mary-F-O-R-D"

When I first moved here, one of my relatives wrote "Stanford, CN" on the envelope. The letter still got to me somehow.

I always say Stamford, CT, unless I talking to someone from the FC! No one outside this area knows about this place, unless maybe they work for UBS.

This afternoon I got a call from a recruiter in Manhattan. Among his attempts at small talk he asked "when did you leave the city and move down there?" and the very profound "how's the weather, is it much different?" - I kindly explained to him that I was only 30 miles away, and less than 45 minutes from Manhattan by train. His reply: "Oh, I've never been to CT..."
