Laughs at a Two Drink Minimum
Did the gods answer our calls? Two comedy clubs opening in Stamford? How the F did this slip past the crack Stamford blog team! After a nice run of scooping the Advocate she raised her mighty hand slapped us back.
From the sound of it, these are less stand alone clubs and more "events". To Catch a Rising Star will be hosted at the Marriott Hotel (the ugly one by the mall) Treehouse will share space with the Ancient Order of Hibernians Hall. I'd prefer a dedicated club like some of the ones in NYC, but this is a good start.

Do you know when either of these clubs are opening?
I am with you as far as wishing for a dedicated club. This might be a trial balloon with an eye toward opening a stand-alone.
Now if someone would just open a jazz club, my life would be complete!!

I'm friends with a nationally-known comedian or two...I'm forward them the Advocate link and hopefully they'll bring some business in on their own...everyone wins!
So far though getting a ticket for the Rising Star gig is causing some serious ass pain - you have to leave a message agreeing to buy some tickets despite the fact that you have no idea how much they cost and/or if the douchebag on the other end of the message will ever call you back. Makes me long for the jerks who put the "master" into Ticketmaster.
The tickets for Rising Star are $30, plus $18 towards your food and beverage tab, so you're starting at $48 per person. That's a little steep if you ask me. Comedy clubs in NYC don't charge that much.

yeah its not nyc, its in stamford, and i can walk to it.
don't forget to minus 22.00 bucks for the train.
and to minus 2 hrs of travel.
NYC comedy clubs have a low entry price ($~20), then you have your 2 drink min. Beers cost like $8 a piece. All of a sudden your at the $38.
