Here Comes Ivar the Engine Driver To Make You Feel Much Better

This is the proposed Light Rail route for Stamford. Click the pic to expand. The yellow line is phase 1, the dashed line is a potential expansion route. From what I understand its a one track line. I wonder what that means for wait times. If I'm at the transportation center and want to go south to Harbor Point, but the train is headed North, do I have to wait for it to go all the way to Bull Head's before it kicks in reverse to pick me up and go south? I think think it is worth studying, but I'm curious what the wait times are.

I assume it goes to Harbor Point because that's where the proposed Ferry is- so this light rail is for commuters, basically.

And I'm wondering where the parking lot in Bull's Head is going to be for all the cars. It looks to me like they're just creating a satellite parking lot for the train station/ proposed ferry and not much else.

I'm OK with that I guess, but they just better make that parking lot not look too hideous and not block traffic.

My impression is its more pedestrian centric casual/ leisure mode of transport than a commuter line. If you don’t have a set time that the rail car will arrive you can’t plan reliably around getting to a ferry or train.

By the time any light rail goes in Harbor Point should be built out as a whole mess of shopping, eating, park, etc.

Minneapolis airport has a 'one track' light rail, but trains run in both directions. Essentially partway down the track they have a passing lane and the two trains go around each other.
