Anyone else here the rumor Bennett's is closing this summer? Could some potential devlopement be about to go down on Spring Street?

Would I be the only one who didn't mourn Bennett's?
Good steaks, amazing wine list, mediocre everything else, and plastic chairs. The place is owned by great people but for my money I'd rather go across the street to Chez Jean-Pierre for steak with frites or cassoulet with some great French wine. And wooden chairs!

It sounds dubious to me. How could the place the Dalai Lama went be closing?
Bennett is opening up a hot dog/burger stand on Bridge St. near the Skatepark! The Advocate featured it recently.
It's most definitely a rumor. The building is selling off the neighboring space _next_ to Bennett's and I was even confused when I saw the for-sale sign go up. I'm sure that others are equally confused and telephone created the rumor.
Say what you want about the power of rumor, though. This kind of misunderstanding has bitten more than it's share of other businesses. Bennett's will have to do some advertising just to correct the perception.
