The Dude Abides

One of Stamford’s better summer events, Cult Film Night, is back at the Avon Theatre on Bedford St after a year hiatus. Every Thursday night at 9p the Avon will show a different cult film. Some of this year’s selection includes Donny Darko, Eraserhead, The Evil Dead, Blade Runner, Labyrinth (Bowie!), & The Big Lebowski. The full line up is available here.

The best part is they show a bunch of vintage movie trailers before the show. Ridiculously bad. Many include Chuck Norris. All have the voice over from the same old school movie trailer voice guy.

    AAAWWWWWWWEEEESSSSOOOOOOMMMMMEEEEE!!!!!!!!

Hopefully the earlier start time will bring more people out.

It was sad that classics like "Zombie" and "The Toxic Avenger" got so little love. Is this area too jaded to bother being artsy?

You're right, these used to be so sparsely attended. Clerks had about 6 people there. Then again they were spread out over two nights. I also wished they picked a better day than Thursday, there is already alot going in the summer on Thursdays.

Freaky ... I saw The Evil Dead ... on a date ... in its original run at the Avon. I sense awkward teenage flashback coming on ...

To Anonymous #1: Crap, I was so caught up in my excitement that I forgot about all the cool things on Thursdays in the summer like Alive at Five. Then again, maybe they planned it that way: go see the concert, then swing into the Avon for some A/C and Candarian demons.

    To A.H.A.U: Hilarious!
