Live@Five Lineup 2008

We have our Live@Five lineup:

Blues Traveler
Blind Melon
Gato Barbieri
Eve 6
Southside Johnny
Billy Vera
Boys II Men

Shouldn't they be fully transitioned to men by this point?

Omigod omigod omigod. Billy Vera??? Really???? You mean I'm going to have to haul my middle-aged butt downtown on some hot, humid, mosquito-ridden evening to see the man who made was is simply the all-time greatest piece of recorded music (At This Moment)???? Okay. Pass the Deep Woods Off.

I wish Jimmy Eat World had made the cut.

What's really embarassing is when the one hit wonders plow thru their set to an indifferent audience. Then when they get to their hit people are jumping out windows and trampling each other to get to the stage to sing along with the three lines of the chorus they know. Why is it no one gives a crap about The Spin Doctors or Hootie any day of the week but when they show up for a free concert people are flipping out excited?

We tried to send this e-mail to the Stamford-Downtown but thier site is down and the e-mail bounced - so here it is with hope that this is looked at as constructive criticism.

Thank you for bringing such wonderful concerts to town (Blues Traveler last Thursday June 29, 2008). Both, Patty and I love it and last night was especially good (for a little while - see below).

Here is some insight from a spectator point of view. We came in earlier and grabbed a space right near the front. As we were waiting for Blues Traveler to come in, we realized that families with their children (all ages) and grandparents came in much earlier than we did so that they and their children enjoy the concert experience. Unfortunately, they had to leave soon after the concert started because many aggressive young teens started to push their way violently stepping on the kids, blankets, pushing, jumping, tossing others into the air and hurting some including spraying beer screaming and ruining the experience to many. These families that came hours a head of times packed their things and left the concert worrying about the safety of their families. We left a short while later frustrated thinking that some police was needed in particular when the teens were smoking pot and drinking beer - a lot of it.
